In April of 2024, MED CINE teamed up with Sunshine Cinema to screen !AITSA in rural Karoo communities as part of our free impact screening tour. This endeavour brought the film back to the communities who inspired the film by sharing their wisdom and experiences.

Thanks to the MED CINE and Sunshine Cinema collaboration, we had access to a solar-powered mobile screening setup. This enabled us to deliver 11 successful screenings to rural areas, where families could enjoy !AITSA under the night sky, enhancing the immersive experience of this outdoor screening and echoing the film’s focus on celestial exploration. These solar-powered screenings allowed us to take the film wherever it needed to be seen, regardless of access or loadshedding. This in particular gained the project much attention from press, as we made use of collaborative solutions to address contemporary problems. 

Having partnered with the SKAO, !AITSA screenings were accompanied by an opportunity to experience the night sky alongside trained AstroGuides who, equipped with their telescopes, offered their knowledge of the universe and the stars and planets around us.
